“Where there is charity and wisdom, there is neither fear nor ignorance. Where there is patience and humility, there is neither anger nor vexation. Where there is poverty and joy, there is neither greed nor avarice. Where there is peace and meditation, there is neither anxiety nor doubt.” ~ St. Francis of Assisi
From our prayer life and fraternal life flow our apostolates. Our apostolates are the works that have been entrusted to us to carry out in the name of the Church. These are works of service, through which we strive to respond to the spiritual and material poverty of our day with the love and compassion of Christ. While living in neighborhoods noted for poverty, our apostolates include:
· Serving the poor through food pantries, clothing and household goods distributions, after school programs, senior programs, and family meal programs
· Evangelization, including retreat work (hosting retreats and service immersion trips and assisting with retreats at other locations), days of recollection on site or in parishes, parish missions and Bible Camps for youth
· Eucharistic Adoration at our centers, working up to Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration, inviting the clergy, other consecrated men and women and the laity to participate
· Teaching includes serving as religion teachers in poor Catholic schools, hopefully developing into administration of Catholic schools in poor neighborhoods; we also plan to assist teaching religion in parish-based religious education programs, especially in the early years of our teaching apostolate.
